If you want a deep and peaceful sleep every night, it’s not just important to have a large, soft, and comfy bed. Your sleeping environment plays a major role as well. And by that, we mean your bedroom and designer-approved bedroom layout.
Sleeping in a messy and chaotic room certainly won’t put you to bed. It can even give you nightmares! That’s why making your room conducive to sleep is one of the things that you should do first if you really want to relax and recharge in your room.
To do that, you need to arrange your bedroom in a way that when you walk in, you’d actually be excited to sleep in it.
Don’t know how and where to start? Below are only some designer-approved interior designing hacks to pull off a bedroom design and layout that will help you get to dreamland easily!
Remove All the Clutter First
A clean and clutter-free space always translates to better sleep. If you want to spend more time in the dreamland, you might want to start throwing away all the unnecessary stuff.
All the clutter that does nothing but collect dust in your room only makes the space look messy and chaotic, which is not exactly what you need if you want a sleep-conducive room.
If you declutter, not only will your room look more peaceful, but you’ll also have more storage for the things that you actually need.
Once you’ve done that, it’s only a matter of time before you snore your way to dreamland!
Sketch Out a Floor Plan on Paper
Once you’ve reduced all your belongings to a minimum, the next thing you should do is to block all your bedroom furniture and accessories on a piece of paper.
You don’t have to study architecture or be good at drawing to make a decent floor plan. Just sketch out where everything should go.
It’s important to note that you should draw it on a piece of paper or use one of those interior designing apps so you can actually visualize what your room will look and feel like.
This will also allow you to do trial and error and eliminate the mistakes beforehand to make sure everything’s a right fit with each other.
Trust us, trial and error is the last thing you want to do it’s time to arrange the furniture in your room. Moving bulky furniture here and there will only waste your time and energy. That’s why it’s good to have a prepared floor plan!
When Arranging the Room, Always Start with the Bed
Your bed must be the focal point of the space. It’s called the “bedroom” after all.
No matter how big or small your room is, ideally, the bed must always go against the longest wall with no windows or entrance door.
This will make your bed the star of the show and easily accessible by you and your partner if you have one. No one needs to walk around the bed to get in and out of the room.
However, if your room has a really weird shape or orientation, use a layout that you think will perfectly work in your room.
Go from Bulky Furniture to Small Accessories
Once you’re done with the bed, now it’s time to arrange other furniture. The best way to do this is to place the biggest ones first then you go down to the smallest.
Fit in your closets, shelves, or desk if there are any, then see if they fit on your original layout. Then work on smaller ones like the bedside table, floor lamps, and other accessories.
If you think that you’re still lacking some furniture, shop luxury furniture online and see what perfectly complements your room!
Lastly, Get a Nice Rug
This may sound cliché, but a rug can tie a whole room together! Choose the rugs that will perfectly complement the style that you’re going for in your room!
You can get a large rug that will cover almost the entire room so that it’s nice and comfy to walk and prance around the room.
But if you have a limited budget, go for rugs that are large enough to cover a nice area of your room. All you have to worry about is the placement.
You can put it on the foot of the bed, on the side of the bed, or you can take it to center stage, depending on what works for you!
